Austin's SxSW Juke Joint of Indy Music

This past week Austin, TX has been rocking from corner to corner like a wild juke box by 1700 independent bands and thousands of music industry-related professionals and wannabees who converged there for the SxSW Music Festival.

NY Times music reviewer, Jon Pareles, called it "a talent showcase and a schmoozathon, a citywide barbecue party and a brainstorming session for a business that has been radically shaken and stirred by the Internet."

During the day there are sessions on the future of music promotion and how bands can monetize their creativity. At night there is the music. If you love independent bands and want to hear the latest and greatest, do yourself a favor and make it over to Austin for SxSW.
